Youth Club of Trinidad Receives Life Time Foundation Support to Get Kids on Bikes

New bike program to serve under-resourced, low-income youth.

TRINIDAD, COLO., (July 11, 2024) — The Youth Club of Trinidad, a nonprofit organization that provides a safe and enriching environment for youth in the rural communities of Las Animas, Huerfano, and Colfax counties, announced today a grant from the Life Time Foundation to support their new Junior Bike Riders summer bike program.

The Youth Club of Trinidad enables under-resourced young people to reach their full potential through programs that promote academic success, healthy habits, and responsible citizenship. Many of the youth served by their offerings have never ridden a bike and might not get the chance without this program, which will teach bike safety and etiquette, while also promoting life skills, lifelong healthy habits and a love for the outdoors and physical activities.

“We are excited to launch the Junior Bike Riders program and grateful for the Life Time Foundation’s support of our mission and this program,” said Patrick Walsh, Executive Director of the Youth Club of Trinidad. “Our shared commitment to supporting youth has resulted in the Junior Bike Program, which we know will have a positive and lasting impact on the youth we serve and our larger community.”

The Life Time Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit created by Life Time, Inc., exists to inspire healthy people, a healthy planet, and a healthy way of life. Through its grantmaking program, the Foundation supports organizations nationwide to help kids get moving in safe, fun, and enriching ways and empowers all kids to be active for life.

“We’re proud to support the Youth Club of Trinidad, furthering our commitment to empowering kids to be active for life,” said Sarah Emola, Life Time Director of ESG Programs and the Life Time Foundation. “Our missions align, reinforcing our shared dedication to ensuring all children, regardless of their circumstances, live healthy, happy lives.”

The grant from the Life Time Foundation will provide bikes, training and certification costs for instructors to teach the children, and other programmatic costs for Youth Club of Trinidad members to learn and enjoy the life-long sport of cycling. The Junior Bike Riders programming will begin in mid-July and will initially benefit 30 youth. Trinidad is also the location for the Life Time Rad Dirt Fest, one of nearly thirty athletic events owned and produced by Life Time, and the Life Time Foundation is proud to support the community that is home to this event.
