Joe Alvarado - Outdoor Movement

As part of our Earth Month series, The Connection Between Fitness, Wellness & Outdoor Spaces, we’re highlighting Life Time team members who find renewal and purpose in the outdoors.

As a kid growing up in the late ’80s and early ’90s, Joe Alvarado spent every free moment outdoors—on bikes, playing catch, and going on endless adventures until the sun went down. Now, as Studio Leader at Life Time Centennial in Colorado, that love for outdoor movement hasn’t faded—it’s grown deeper.

Joe vividly remembers the first hike that shifted his perspective:

There’s something to breathing fresh air… and I actually got a workout. That’s when I started to connect the power of both nature and movement.
— Joe Alvarado, Life Time Centennial

From mountain hikes with friends to everyday walks with his dog, nature has remained Joe’s space for reflection, connection, and grounding. And now, it’s about more than just movement—it’s about preservation.

We’ve got this one and only planet. It gives so much to us—and we’ve got to give back.
— Joe Alvarado, Life Time Centennial

Joe’s story reminds us that the outdoors isn’t just a place to move—it’s where we find meaning, and where we shape a future worth protecting.

The future of our planet—and our well-being—is in our hands. It’s up to us to take action today.
